Reduce Chronic Hip Pain
Treat inflammation that contributes to ongoing hip discomfort.
Joint & Back Pain
Chronic hip pain can make walking, climbing stairs, exercising, or even sitting comfortably a challenge. Whether caused by arthritis, inflammation, or tendon injuries, persistent hip pain can significantly impact your mobility and quality of life.
At NovaGen Interventional, Dr. Abhishek Kumar and Dr. Jason Chiu offer advanced, minimally invasive treatment options for chronic hip pain. Using image-guided procedures such as Hip Artery Embolization (HAE), our team targets the abnormal blood vessels contributing to inflammation, helping reduce pain, improve mobility, and restore function without major surgery.

Joint & Back Pain
Hip pain often becomes more severe over time, limiting your ability to stay active and independent. Early treatment may help reduce inflammation, improve joint function, and delay or avoid hip replacement surgery.
Treat inflammation that contributes to ongoing hip discomfort.
Avoid large incisions, lengthy hospital stays, and extended rehabilitation whenever possible.
Walk, exercise, and perform daily activities with greater comfort and confidence.
Most patients return home the same day and resume normal activities within several days.
Joint & Back Pain
Hip pain can develop from several conditions affecting the joint, tendons, muscles, or surrounding soft tissues. Common causes include:
These conditions often produce ongoing inflammation that contributes to pain and reduced mobility.
Without treatment, chronic inflammation and joint degeneration may continue to progress, leading to worsening pain, reduced mobility, muscle weakness, and limitations in daily activities.
Early treatment may help improve function while preserving the natural hip joint.
Patients with chronic hip pain may experience:
Several factors may increase your risk of chronic hip pain, including:
If medications, injections, or physical therapy have not provided lasting relief, minimally invasive treatment may be an option.
Joint & Back Pain
At NovaGen Interventional, we offer Hip Artery Embolization (HAE) for select patients experiencing chronic hip pain caused by inflammation.
Hip Artery Embolization is an image-guided procedure that reduces abnormal blood flow to inflamed tissues surrounding the hip joint.
By decreasing inflammation, HAE may relieve pain, improve mobility, and help patients delay or avoid surgery while preserving the natural joint.
During the procedure, a small catheter is inserted through a tiny puncture in the wrist or groin. Using advanced fluoroscopic imaging, the catheter is carefully guided to the arteries supplying the inflamed tissues around the hip.
Tiny embolic particles are then delivered to reduce abnormal blood flow associated with chronic inflammation while preserving healthy circulation.
The procedure typically takes one to two hours and is performed under conscious sedation.
Most patients return home the day of treatment.
Many patients return to normal daily activities within several days.
Reducing inflammation may improve walking, climbing stairs, and everyday movement.
Many patients experience meaningful improvements in pain and function over the weeks and months following treatment.

Joint & Back Pain
Patients with chronic hip pain caused by inflammatory conditions who have not improved with medications, injections, or physical therapy may be candidates. A consultation and imaging evaluation will help determine whether this treatment is appropriate for you.
Hip Artery Embolization is performed under conscious sedation, and most patients experience little discomfort during the procedure. Mild soreness afterward is generally temporary.
Most patients return home the same day and resume light daily activities within several days. Improvements in pain and mobility typically continue over the following weeks as inflammation decreases.
Many patients experience meaningful symptom improvement after embolization and may be able to delay or avoid hip replacement. However, patients with advanced joint damage may still require surgery. Your physician will discuss the most appropriate treatment for your condition.
Coverage for Hip Artery Embolization varies depending on your insurance provider and the condition being treated. Our team will verify your benefits and discuss your coverage before treatment.
