Reduce Chronic Heel Pain
Treat the inflammation responsible for persistent plantar fascia pain.
Joint & Back Pain
Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of chronic heel pain, making every step uncomfortable. Whether you're walking, exercising, standing at work, or simply getting out of bed in the morning, persistent foot pain can interfere with your daily routine and quality of life.
At NovaGen Interventional, Dr. Abhishek Kumar and Dr. Jason Chiu offer advanced, minimally invasive treatment options for chronic plantar fasciitis. Using image-guided procedures such as Plantar Fasciitis Embolization (PFE), we target the abnormal blood vessels contributing to chronic inflammation, helping relieve pain, improve mobility, and get you back on your feet—without major surgery.

Joint & Back Pain
Heel pain often becomes more difficult to treat the longer it persists. Early intervention may reduce inflammation, improve mobility, and help prevent chronic pain from limiting your daily activities.
Treat the inflammation responsible for persistent plantar fascia pain.
Avoid surgical procedures, lengthy rehabilitation, and prolonged downtime whenever possible.
Walk, work, exercise, and enjoy daily activities with greater comfort.
Most patients return home the same day and resume normal activities within several days.
Joint & Back Pain
Plantar fasciitis occurs when the plantar fascia—the thick band of connective tissue running along the bottom of the foot—becomes irritated and inflamed. Repetitive stress can cause tiny tears within the tissue, leading to chronic heel pain and stiffness.
It is one of the most common causes of heel pain in adults.
Without treatment, chronic inflammation can continue damaging the plantar fascia, leading to worsening pain, altered walking patterns, and reduced mobility. Some patients begin compensating for heel pain, which may contribute to knee, hip, or back discomfort over time.
Patients with plantar fasciitis often experience:
Several factors increase the risk of plantar fasciitis, including:
If stretching, orthotics, medications, injections, or physical therapy have not provided lasting relief, minimally invasive treatment may be an option.
Joint & Back Pain
At NovaGen Interventional, we offer Plantar Fasciitis Embolization (PFE) for select patients with chronic heel pain caused by persistent inflammation.
Plantar Fasciitis Embolization is an image-guided procedure that reduces abnormal blood flow to chronically inflamed tissue within the plantar fascia.
By decreasing inflammation, PFE may relieve pain, improve function, and help patients return to daily activities without surgery.
During the procedure, a small catheter is inserted through a tiny puncture, typically in the wrist or groin. Using advanced imaging guidance, the catheter is carefully guided to the tiny arteries supplying the inflamed tissues in the foot.
Tiny embolic particles are then delivered to reduce abnormal blood flow associated with chronic inflammation while preserving healthy circulation.
The procedure is performed under conscious sedation and typically takes about one hour.
Most patients return home shortly after treatment.
Many patients return to normal activities within several days.
Reducing inflammation may make walking, standing, and exercising more comfortable.
Many patients experience meaningful improvement in heel pain and function over the weeks and months following treatment.
Joint & Back Pain
Patients with chronic plantar fasciitis have several treatment options depending on symptom severity and response to conservative care.
| Feature | Plantar Fasciitis Embolization | Cortisone Injections | Physical Therapy | Plantar Fascia Surgery |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Treats | Chronic inflammation | Temporary inflammation | Flexibility & strength | Chronic structural problems |
| Anesthesia | Twilight sedation | None | None | General or local anesthesia |
| Incision | Tiny catheter puncture | None | None | Surgical incision |
| Hospital Stay | Same-day | None | None | Outpatient |
| Recovery | Several days | Minimal | Ongoing | Weeks to months |
| Pain Relief | Long-lasting for many patients | Temporary | Variable | High for appropriate candidates |
| Invasiveness | Minimally invasive | Minimally invasive | Non-invasive | Highly invasive |

Heel pain shouldn't keep you from walking, exercising, working, or enjoying your favorite activities.
If conservative treatments have not provided lasting relief, NovaGen Interventional offers advanced, minimally invasive procedures that may help reduce pain and restore mobility without major surgery.
Joint & Back Pain
Patients with chronic plantar fasciitis who continue to experience pain despite stretching, orthotics, medications, injections, or physical therapy may be candidates. A consultation and imaging evaluation will determine whether this treatment is appropriate for you.
The procedure is performed under conscious sedation, and most patients experience little discomfort. Mild soreness afterward is typically temporary and resolves within a few days.
Most patients return home the same day and resume light daily activities within several days. Pain relief often continues to improve over the following weeks as inflammation decreases.
Many patients experience significant symptom improvement after embolization and are able to delay or avoid surgery. However, surgery may still be appropriate for patients with severe structural damage or persistent symptoms. Your physician will discuss the best treatment approach for your condition.
Coverage for Plantar Fasciitis Embolization varies depending on your insurance provider and the condition being treated. Our team will verify your benefits and discuss your coverage before your procedure.
